Crescent dough shaped into carrots with creamy herb cheese filling

# Ingredient list:

→ Crescent Roll Carrots

01 - 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
02 - 1 egg, beaten
03 - Orange food coloring (optional)
04 - 8 fresh parsley sprigs

→ Creamy Herb Filling

05 - 8 oz cream cheese, softened
06 - 2 tbsp sour cream
07 - 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
08 - 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh dill
09 - 1/4 cup finely shredded carrot
10 - 1/2 tsp garlic powder
11 - 1/2 tsp onion powder
12 - Salt and black pepper to taste

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Mix a few drops of orange food coloring with the beaten egg if using for authentic carrot appearance.
03 - Unroll crescent roll dough and cut into 8 long strips. Wrap each strip around a metal cream horn mold or foil cone, overlapping slightly to form carrot shapes. Place seam side down on prepared baking sheet.
04 - Brush each wrapped cone with orange egg wash for golden color.
05 - Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before gently removing molds. Allow to cool completely.
06 - In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, chives, dill, shredded carrot, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well blended.
07 - Transfer filling to piping bag or zip-top bag with corner snipped. Pipe filling into each cooled crescent roll carrot.
08 - Insert a parsley sprig into the open end of each carrot to complete the presentation. Serve immediately or refrigerate until serving.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • These look like you spent hours in the kitchen but come together in under 45 minutes start to finish
  • The creamy herb filling is legitimately addictive and works with almost any fresh herbs you have growing
02 -
  • The dough shells must be completely cool before filling or the cheese will start melting and lose its texture
  • Removing the foil cones too soon can cause the warm dough to collapse, wait just 2 to 3 minutes after baking
03 -
  • Chill your piping bag for 10 minutes before filling so the cream cheese mixture pipes more cleanly
  • If you cannot find orange food coloring, skip it rather than using too much which can taste bitter
